Percent for Good is a charity designed to make it easy for professionals to donate to the causes that matter most to them via direct donations or Payroll Giving. Each portfolio has been carefully curated and must demonstrate strong governance, have limited resources, maintain strategic partnerships and have a compelling vision to be incorporated. The Social Mobility Cause Portfolio contains the charities Bookmark, RedSTART, MiSST, Art Against Knives and Create.

Bookmark: Promoting the Joy of Reading

The first organisation in the Social Mobility Cause Portfolio is Bookmark Reading Charity, which works to change children’s lives through the joy of reading. The charity offers resources, grants and programmes to schools including funding, teaching materials and book packs. By nurturing a love of reading, Bookmark believes it can change a child’s life trajectory, giving them the reading skills required for a brighter future.

RedSTART: Transforming Life Chances

Percent for Good was founded by Mark Lyttleton, and its Cause Portfolios represent a mission to create tangible positive change in our communities. The next charity in the Social Mobility Cause Portfolio is RedSTART, an organisation whose education programmes aim to improve the life chances of some of the country’s most disadvantaged children.

MiSST: Making Lives Better Through Music

Next in the portfolio is MiSST (The Music in Secondary Schools Trust), which aims to transform children’s lives through classical music education. The organisation currently works with 29 schools serving disadvantaged – often challenging – communities by providing funding for instruments, regular tuition and opportunities to perform, offering excellence in all its programmes. Art Against Knives: Nurturing Creative, Safe Spaces

Existing for the last 15 years to prevent youth violence through creativity, Art Against Knives is another of the charitable organisations incorporated in the Social Mobility Cause Portfolio. The charity is committed to addressing the root causes of youth violence, working in partnership with young people and the communities in which they live. These partnerships have resulted in the creation of creative, safe spaces where young people can build their own futures.

Create

The final charity making up the portfolio is Create, which aims to spark creativity and ignite change. Create works to reduce isolation, empower lives and enhance general wellbeing via the creative arts. The organisation’s professional artists run arts projects for both adults and children facing life challenges, who are given the opportunity to express themselves, nurture their well-being, meet others and build skills.
